(AP) - Chris Nielsen has submitted his resignation as Nevada Gov. Jim Gibbons' general counsel - the second member of the governor's senior staff to leave in less than month.

Nielsen's departure follows the resignation of Gibbons' chief of staff, Josh Hicks, whose last day at work was June 26.

Nielsen, who doesn't have another job lined up yet, said he'll work through the end of July as Gibbons looks for a new chief of staff and general counsel. Nielsen was brought in after Hicks was promoted from general counsel to chief of staff a year ago.

"It's been an honor to work with the governor and the rest of the staff, but it's time to look in a different direction," Nielsen said.
