Carson City's 9-10-year-old all-star squad rolled in to the District 1 finals with an impressive 17-0 win over Carson Valley Friday night at Governors Field.
The win was the sixth straight in post-season for Carson, and five of those wins have come via the 10-run rule. Through six games, Carson has outscored its opponents by a 91-9 margin.
The victory sends Carson against Washoe, a 17-3 winner over South Tahoe in the other Friday night semifinal.
This one was over early, as Carson scored 10 times in the second inning to take an 11-0 lead.
Tommy Gall ignited the second-inning rally with a leadoff single and moved to second on Bebop Martinez's bunt single. Bryce Moyle walked to load the bases. Jayden DeJoseph followed with a run-scoring single and Jace Keema drove in two more with another single. Zach Simms walked to load the bases and winning pitcher Kyle Krebs singled home two more runs to make it 6-0. Tez Allen's infield out plated another run and Krebs came around to score on a passed ball and wild pitch for a 8-0 lead.
Jesse Lopez walked and came around to score on a double steal. Moyle stroked the second of his three doubles to drive in two more runs for an 11-0 lead.
The winners made it 15-0 with three more in the fourth.
After one out, Allen and Lopez walked. Allen stole third and scored on a sacrifice fly by Dawson Fettic. Abel Carter walked to put runners on first and second. Moyle's third double of the game scored one run and DeJoseph plated two more with a single.
Three Carson Valley errors led to Carson's last two runs.
Krebs pitched 3.2 innings, allowing three hits and striking out four. Allen retired the last batter of the game.
Lane Saladis, Spencer Trivitt and losing pitcher Dion Mortimer hit safely for Carson Valley.
