Take the gloves off and expose the Marxist radical

Republicans in Congress, you are letting us down. Stand up, take the gloves off and expose Obama for the Marxist radical ideologue he is.

Proclaim to America his goal, which is to destroy America's amazing successful economic system and turn us into a Third World Banana Republic. Universal health care, cap-and-trade and pie-in-the-sky agenda are intentional deceptive smoke screens for his real goal, which is to emasculate the middle class by promoting unemployment so that, like Hitler, Mussolini, Chavez, etc., we will cravenly grovel before his big government mandates. He thrives on crises.

Beginning with Jimmy Carter and down through the Clinton era, the ploy to stop offshore drilling and refinery expansion along with our massive coal reserves is to intentionally make us dependent on foreign oil. What suckers we are to fall for his unrealistic, unproven renewable energy program. Common sense says only a fool would denigrate coal and oil that have been the time-proven foundation of our highly advanced civilization.

Obama and his cronies ... Dodge, Frank, Schumer, Kennedy and Waxman have no experience in running a business enterprise, much less dictating policy to industry professionals. So take the gloves off and call these demagogues for what they are ... enemies of America and individual freedom.

Remember Churchill? "They do not value freedom themselves and the spectacle of it in others is hateful to them."

Get involved to ensure issues stay on radar screen

I wanted to respond to the recent story regarding the Eden Research plant in Dayton.

I was vice chair of the Dayton Regional Advisory Council (DRAC) two years ago when Eden Research first applied for a special use permit to operate its facility.

At our public hearing, DRAC raised the same issues mentioned in your article, plus a concern about chemicals such as cyanide being transported over the only route into that area of Dayton. Imagine an accident involving such dangerous chemicals on the Carson River bridge. People familiar with the mining industry know that cyanide is used to extract precious metals from ore, so that also raised a yellow flag for DRAC.

The result of the DRAC public hearing was that a unanimous "No" recommendation was forwarded to both the Lyon County Planning Commission and the Lyon County commissioners. Unfortunately, that recommendation was ignored by both commissions and the permit for Eden Research was approved.

Regarding the comment by Mr. Adams that this issue "flew under the radar," I recall that the DRAC public hearing on this issue was not well attended. This is a perfect example of why citizens need to become more involved with their local government boards and commissions. Public opinion does play a role in the decisions that are reached. Not all meetings will discuss issues such as this, but agendas are published in multiple locations before the meetings to allow the public to decide which meetings they may want to attend.

Victim's wife deserves credit for her heroism

On May 12 (Mother's Day), the Nash family walked into a nightmare. Tamera, Wayne's wife, and their daughter Whitney witnessed the shooting of Wayne. A lot has happened since then. Tami Nash should and needs to be acknowledged and recognized by the community for her heroism that day.

After seeing her husband get shot, with quick thinking and no prior medical training, she grabbed a jacket from the vehicle, tied it on his leg as a tourniquet. Upon arriving at the hospital, Wayne asked the doctors, "Can you save my leg?" The doctor replied, "Let's try and save you first. You have lost a lot of blood."

Wayne would have ended up losing a lot more blood than he did. Tami's quick and accurate thinking saved Wayne from losing more blood. With everything that happened and was occurring, I feel that Tami has been over-shadowed. I know it would mean a lot if she also could be recognized for her heroism that day.

Publish a story about the Nash family and focus more on her and her heroism. Just an idea. Thank you.
