New benzine buggy - has been tooled in the city. It is a buggy that is usually drawn by horses, but to which a gasoline engine has been attached.

Rotary Club members enjoyed ladies night at Stateline. Guests were President Harold Berger of Carson City Lions' Club and Harold Anderson president of the Carson City 20-30 Club.

50 YEARS AGO

The long 1959 hot spell has brought the Carson City water supply to "critical stage," according to president Robert Shriver of Carson Water Company. To avoid rationing, all householders are encouraged to water their lawns and gardens in the early morning or late evening hours.

20 YEARS AGO

An increase of three hundred percent in pension benefits for Nevada State Legislators may violate federal law. A political watchdog group, Common Cause, is planning to circulate petitions to repeal the pension plan.

10 YEARS AGO

Dayton, reputed to be Nevada's oldest settlement, celebrated its 150th birthday. "Since this is the very first community in Nevada, it's the first 150th year celebration anywhere in the state," said Don Dallas, a member of the Sesquicen-

tennial committee.
