The Commission for Cultural Affairs has set an Aug. 1 deadline to submit a letter of intent for applicants seeking funding to restore historic buildings.
Organizations that previously received funding don't need to submit the letter. The process is required only for groups that haven't applied in the past.
The commission receives $3 million in bond money each year to award to restore and rehabilitate historic buildings for use as cultural centers in Nevada. Since the program was started in 1993, the commission has awarded grants to more than 80 buildings ranging from Reno's Lake Mansion to the Las Vegas Post Office, Fallon's Oats Park School and Virginia City's Fourth Ward School museum.
Organizations wishing to submit a letter of intent can call 775-684-3439. The grant application is available online at www.NevadaCulture.org.
