The first annual Improv Intensive/Creativity Camp for adults and teens will take place at the historic Piper's Opera House in Virginia City 11 am.-4:30 p.m. Aug. 11, 12.

The two-day workshop is designed to help actors, teachers, business people, creative souls and those who just want to stretch themselves in a safe environment to increase skills that are inherent in the art of improvisation: spontaneity, listening, collaboration, and leadership. These same skills translate well to skills needed in real life.

The workshop will be facilitated by award-winning actor, director and educator Jeanette Knight.

Tuition is $200 for both days or $150 for one day, or $150 for both days with payment by July 31.

A limited number of full and partial scholarships are available. For more information on the workshop, call Knight at (760) 408-4715.

Auditions for the Proscenium Players' first show of the 2009-2010 season, "Our Town" will start at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the board room at the Children's Museum of NN, 813 N. Carson Street, Carson City.

This Pulitzer Prize winning masterpiece by Thornton Wilder is a tale of small-town morality and a classic of soft-spoken theater.

A large cast show with males and females, ages 8-98 is needed. Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script.

Our Town is directed by Jason Macy and produced by Pat Josten. Production dates are weekends Oct. 2-17 on the stage at the Children's Museum.

The artists of East Fork Gallery in Gardnerville are throwing a party to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the formation of their artists' co-op.

There will be an exhibit of paintings from the 13 original members plus work from each of the current artists, refreshments and a raffle for a framed watercolor print by original East Fork member James Lawrence at the reception, 4-8 p.m. Friday.

The East Fork Gallery was established in 1979 in response to a group of Carson Valley artists wanting a suitable place to display and sell good quality original art so they formed an association.

Elfriede Short is the last charter member still active as an artist at the gallery. Other surviving charter members are Nancy Jackson, Luetta Bergevin and Leone Cloepfil.

Short said being a co-op is the key to surviving through tough economic times.

"It's a little slow, we're not selling like hot cakes," Short said. "But we're hanging in there."
