130 YEARS AGO

A somnambulistic Italian: One of the lodgers in the northern part of the city named Joseph Legretto is a somnambulist, which makes itself apparent between the last quarter of the old and first quarter of the new moon. He recently had one of his attacks, went into the yard, attached the hose to the hydrant, went inside and deluged everyone in the bedroom of the house. No sooner did he feel the grasp of several powerful men, than he opened his eyes gazing wildly and frantically not knowing what he had done. He suffers great mental anxiety because of his affliction. Last evening he went to Sutro, where he is to be employed in the tunnel.

Jail bird: A four foot, 69-pound, three-toed bird, a pet Rhea, landed in the Douglas county jail. He had jumped out of his corral at his home, about eight miles south of Gardnerville.
