Rep. Dean Heller, R-Nev., has renewed his push to make federal officials join any health care plan they create with a letter to President Obama.
His proposed amendment was rejected by the congressional committee considering the proposed legislation last week.
"I call on the majority party and the president to lead by example and include provisions in their legislation that requires both the president and members of Congress to enroll in any new government run health care system," he said. "If the government run public plan is good enough for millions of our constituents, then it should be good enough for members of Congress and the president."
Heller has made it clear in the past he opposes the idea of a federally created and run health care plan.
"However, what better way to monitor a government run health care system than to make federal officials participate in the plan," he said.
