Two wildfires stated Friday afternoon in Northern Nevada burning close to 200 acres combined.
According to the Sierra Front Interagency Dispatch Center the Pine Nuts fire, burning near Mineral Peak about 10 miles east of Johnson Lane in Douglas County and 13 miles south of Dayton, started about 4:20 p.m. As of 10 p.m. the fire was at 60 acres.
The fire was not threatening any structures. The fire burned past some powerpoles, but no major interruption in service was reported.
Smoke from the fire could be seen from Carson City.
Three helicopters and 90 personnel were reported working on the fire. Crews from the Bureau of Land Management-Carson City, the Nevada Division of Forestry, the Forest Service, Douglas County and Central Lyon County were on the scene.
The cause was under investigation and there was no estimate as to containment.
The Boulder Fire, according to the SFIDC started at 5:04 p.m. and as of 10 p.m. had burned 135 acres.
The fire was burning five miles south of Wellington along State Route 208 and three miles southwest of State Route 338 on the east side of the Wellington Hills in the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest. The fire was threatening some structures that were within one mile of the fire but no closures or evacuations were in effect.
A Type III management team was activated for the fire. The fire is under attack from five air tankers, four hand crews, a helicopter and more than 125 firefighters.
BLM, NDF, Douglas County and Mason Valley fire units are battling the blaze. The cause is under investigation.
