LAS VEGAS (AP) - Police in Las Vegas say an 8-year-old boy has been shot by a stray bullet during a drive-by shooting.
KTNV-TV reports that the boy was struck in the arm Saturday afternoon as he and a family member were crossing an intersection near Lake Mead and Lamb boulevards. Metro police says he is in stable condition at University Medical Center.
Police says witnesses saw two nearby cars engaged in a shootout around the time that the boy was hit.
A neighbor, Denise Williams, says she couldn't tell which car fired first, but "knew they were following each other."
Police say they believe someone in a blue car with 18-inch chrome rims fired the shot that struck the child.
No one has been arrested in the shooting as of late Saturday.
