Everett C. Randall, 95, a Carson City resident for the past 52 years, died July 18, 2009, at Carson-Tahoe Hospital with his daughter at his bedside. He was born June 13, 1914, in Watertown, New York, to Charles Merrill and Ethel Mould Randall. He graduated from Watertown High School in 1932 and from Cornell University School of Agriculture in 1939 with a Bachelor of Science Degree. He married Christiann Dugger Randall on July 18, 1942, in Atlanta, Ga.
Everett worked as an Agronomist in Puerto Rico during World War II, looking for an agricultural alternative to imported rubber. He continued his work in soil science with the Soil Conservation Service in Tucson, Ariz. He moved to Carson City in 1957, where he worked to improve agricultural production on tribal lands for the Bureau of Indian Affairs, before retiring in 1972.
Everett and Christiann traveled around the world together, enjoyed boating on Lake Tahoe, and were active members of the Carson City Leisure Hour Club. He researched local history, became the club's historian, and as club president, helped plan and celebrate its 100th anniversary in 1996.
Christiann wrote in her diary, "My husband has many excellent qualities: He has a good sense of humor; he is kindhearted; and he is good with all things around the house." He passed away on their 67th wedding anniversary, and we like to think they celebrated their anniversary in Heaven this year.
He is survived by his daughter, Annette Maye Randall of San Francisco, relatives and many friends. Donations may be made to the Cornell University College of Agriculture and Life Sciences in Ithaca, N.Y.
Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
