Phillip Lee Evenson passed away in Loudon, Tenn., on July 24, 2009, after a short, brave battle with terminal lung cancer. Phil was born in Lee's Summit, Mo., on February 4, 1938, to Earnest and Rose Evenson. His family moved him to Carson City in 1951, where he remained until 1987, and then returned from 2002 until 2005.
Phil was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother. His was preceded in death by his parents and by his brothers Gary, Richard and Wayne.
A journeyman craftsman, Phil was able to use his artistic talent and attention to detail to become a reputable auto body and paint man, teaching the trade to others and owning his own shop, Empire Auto Body in Carson City. He was also a skilled welder and worked with his brothers Denny and Dick at various times. As a young man he also worked for NDOT, was in the Nevada National Guard and Marine Corps Reserves and owned a service station.
Outside of work, Phil was an avid motorsports fan (particularly Nascar), rode motorcycles and sincerely enjoyed relaxing, good times with family and friends. His final wishes were for everyone around him to be healthy and happy. He was very proud of his family and we are very proud of him.
Phil is survived by his wife Carol of Loudon; children Steve of Lovelock, Billy and Trish of Loudon; brothers Denny (Audrey) of Phoenix, Ariz., and Curt (Teresa) of Gardnerville; numerous grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He was easy-going and made friends easily. He will be missed by all who knew him.
No public services are planned. Choosing to remember Phil through a contribution to a charity of your choice would be appreciated. Condolences can be sent to Steve Evenson, P.O. Box 1023, Lovelock, NV89419
