Apartment buildings burn in Reno

A fire that began late Wednesday night in South Reno destroyed 22 buildings at an new apartment complex on South Virginia Street.

Firefighters are mopping up the area at the Alexander Center Apartments, which are under construction on South Virginia Street between South Meadows Parkway and Damonte Ranch Parkway.

A cause has not yet been determined.

Virginia Street is now two-way traffic in the southbound lanes in the area of the fire. The northbound lanes are closed.

According to KTVN Channel 2, none of the buildings were occupied.
