Former city manager, Linda Ritter to retire
Linda Ritter, who worked as city manager for Carson City for a number of years before switching to part time to get involved in special projects, retires Saturday.
Ritter, who was city manager from June 2003 to February 2007, said Thursday her agreement when she left full time employment was that she would stay for 18 months to help the transition to a new city manager and to work on projects that she felt were important, like the city's 2009-10 Business Plan presented to the board of supervisors earlier this month.
She said she will continue to work on the project as a volunteer.
"There will be no real change in what I'm doing. It will be pretty seamless," Ritter said.

Workshops planned on proposed Carson bear law
Public workshops are planned in August on a measure intended to reduce garbage-foraging bears in Carson City.
The proposal is modeled after a similar bear-proof container law in Douglas County.
It requires that after a first incident of a bear getting into garbage, a resident will receive a written or verbal warning.
After a second incident within two years, a resident can either acquire a bear-proof trash can or face a mandatory citation.
Another incident after that within two year carries a potential fine of not less than $100.
The workshops will be held Tuesday at the Carson City sheriff's office; Wednesday at Western Nevada College; Aug. 11 at the Community Center and Aug. 12 at the Carson City School District. All workshops start at 6:30 p.m.
