David Eddings, fantasy writer, dead at 77

David Eddings, the acclaimed fantasy writer who along with his late wife Leigh Eddings, authored 27 best-selling epic novels, died in Carson City on Tuesday, his brother confirmed today.

Among Eddings most popular works were Belgariad and The Malloreon series.

He would have celebrated his 78th birthday in July.

He was preceded in death by his wife and writing partner Leigh Eddings in February 2007.
