Fundraiser for officer's family shows community's generosity

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the various businesses and groups who made possible, the benefit car wash for the family of Officer Greg Farnsworth, at Nevada State Prison, that was held May 23 and 24.

A special thanks to Classy Seconds, Goodwill, F.I.S.H., Sak & Save, and the Carson City Elks Club. Their contributions of supplies made it possible to carry out the car wash.

I would also like to give a special thanks to the community of Carson City. The good people of this city made it possible for us to raise almost $2,000.

Greg's family can surely put this to good use.

It always seems that when there is a need, the people of Carson City, and the surrounding communities invariably answer the call. I am proud to live and work in such a community.

Band association thankful for contributors, attendees to fundraiser

The Carson City Band Association would like to thank all of its contributors to the Annual Wine Tasting and Silent Auction that was held May 9 at Fuji Park. The proceeds will benefit the students from the CHS Band Program in the upcoming year.

Thanks to all the many local business that donated gift certificates. Thanks to the Carson City Parks Department for helping with the event. Thanks to all the people who attended and are supporters of the Arts at CHS.

Kindness paid during Smokey family's loss appreciated

The family of Hugh Smokey Sr. extends its deepest gratitude for the outpouring of kindness and generosity shown during our recent loss. Your expressions of sympathy - in word and deed - are sincerely appreciated. Special thanks to those who honored Hugh's memory by sharing your personal thoughts and stories. Hugh's unexpected passing has been a difficult time for us and has left emptiness, not only in our family but in the lives of his closest friends as well. His earthly presence is gone, yet his spiritual presence lives.

To all who donated, assisted and unselfishly gave of their time, our heart felt Thank You.

Please know that we value your friendship. Your thoughtfulness, concern and support have been a tremendous comfort to us.
