School District sponsors free breakfast and lunch
The Carson City School District sponsors a free breakfast and lunch program to children of Carson City between the ages of 2-18 beginning Monday, June 8 through Friday, Aug. 14 at the Boys & Girls Club, 673 Stewart St. Breakfast will be served from 8-9 a.m. and lunch will be served from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. AIDS Candlelight Memorial in Reno
The 26th International AIDS Candlelight Memorial will be 7 p.m., Sunday at the First United Methodist Church, 209 W. 1st St., Reno. The AIDS memorial is a time for friends, family and community to gather together to honor those affected by HIV/AIDS in Nevada as well as to educate the community about HIV/AIDS. The Northern Nevada Outreach Team invites everyone to come together for free food, live performances and a torch walk through the Downtown Reno River Walk District.

Fitness Challenge and book sale
The Carson Area Wellness Association and Carson City Parks and Recreation and "We Can" join the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports challenge Carson City area residents to join them for a fitness challenge, 2-6 p.m., Saturday, June 13 at Fuji Park Exhibit Hall. There will be vendors, demonstrations, a fashion show and a "Friends of the Library" book sale. Cost is $5 for children and $10 for adults choosing to take the challenge.
The first 50 children and first 50 adults to sign up will receive a free gift and everyone who signs up will get a raffle ticket for a chance at wonderful prizes at the kick-off event.
All participants also will be eligible for prizes at the end. The Challenge is a fundraiser for the Carson Area Wellness Association. All money raised is put back in the community to help the needy. For information,
