Elks Lodge hosts Flag Day Ceremony

Carson City Elks Lodge No. 2177 will host a Flag Day Ceremony, at 2 p.m., Sunday. The Carson City Elks Cub Scouts Pack No. 837 will be presenting the flags. Gun Club to host poker run June 28

Capitol City Gun Club hosts their annual poker run 100 target sporting

clay event, Sunday, June 28, 3590 Arrowhead Drive. 9 a.m., registration; 10 a.m. competition. $75 per person includes a tri tip lunch and prizes. Participation limited to 150 shooters. Proceeds benefit the 4-H Carson City Hot Shots Shooting Sports Club, Carson Tahoe Cancer Center Pediatrics and Reel Kids Fly-fishing Retreat. For information, call 885-6145.

WARF needs volunteers

Wylie Animal Rescue Foundation has a need for new volunteers to help feed, clean litter boxes and socialize several cats at a Carson City halfway home Saturdays and/or Sundays from 10 a.m.-noon. In addition a volunteer is needed to transport cats from Carson City to Cat Adoptions every Saturday at Petco, near Wal-Mart on Topsy Lane.
