Leslie Cain of RE/MAX Realty Affiliates recently completed training in foreclosure avoidance and short sale strategies earning her the designation of Certified Distressed Property Expert (CDPE). A short sale allows the cash-strapped seller to repay the mortgage at the selling price, even though it is lower than what is owed on the property, saving the homeowner from foreclosure and even bankruptcy.

"This CDPE designation is especially important in Nevada where many residents are facing challenges due to a distressed economy," Cain said. "More and more lenders are considering short sales so I am finding this designation invaluable as I work with both sellers and lenders on this complicated process. It is rewarding to help homeowners save their homes from foreclosure whenever possible."

Bowling Mamola Group principal Patty Mamola will serve as lead construction manager for the first phase of the Curry Street reconstruction project. Four construction-engineering firms were vying for the appointment.

"Bowling Mamola Group suggested a joint working relationship that would employ the city's staff resources. The seamless integration will help the Regional Transportation Commission and Carson City save money on the project," said Randy Bowling of Bowling Mamola Group.

Mamola and the firm's Douglas Buck will oversee removal and repaving operations for the eight-block development, between Rhodes Street and Koontz Lane. Additionally, Mamola and Buck will supervise improvements to the roadway's drainage; the replacement of curbs, gutters and sidewalks; and the installation of street lighting for the approximate one-mile undertaking. Completion is anticipated for November 2009.
