The largest Run What Cha Brung Car Show in the history of the Karson Kruzers car club will roll into Carson this weekend, bringing with it multiple souvenir and food vendors, hundreds of motoring enthusiasts and dozens of vehicles ranging from motorcycles to classic hot rods.

"Basically, if it has a motor, we want to see it," said Karson Krusers head Lorretta Marcin. "There's always such a variety of cool vehicles, from the Carson Club and from outside the area."

The Kruzers, a local car club established in 1985, has put on the show for nearly two decades, Marcin said. The 2009 event has expanded to include two dances at Bodines Casino and the Carson Nugget, a parade up and down Carson Street and a traditional Sunday morning poker run to several undisclosed (but scenic) locations around the area.

The highlight of the weekend, though, remains the Saturday car show, which will feature a raffle, vendor booths and prizes galore, Marcin said.

"The main focus of anything like this has to be the show and shine," she said. "It's like walking through an art gallery. You can see what people have done with all different types of vehicles."

Owners can register any motorized vehicle through the Friday night party at Bodines. The Kruzers also are looking for independent judges to select the weekend's winners, she said. In addition to prizes, the top three vehicles will appear on the souvenir T-shirts for next year's show.

"We don't do the judging ourselves because some of us have vehicles (in the competition)," Marcin said. "So the more judges we can get, the better."

Marcin said she was most looking forward to seeing an immaculate 1964 Ford F-10 pickup truck set to be shown by its original owner on Saturday.

"If I had to choose, I guess that would be the one," she said. "But there's so much to see that it's sort of like picking your favorite child, you know?"
