RENO (AP) - Republican Sparks Mayor Geno Martini supports U.S. Sen. Harry Reid's re-election after all.
After making a series of noncommittal comments over the last week, Martini released a statement Friday proclaiming his support for the Nevada Democrat.
Martini and Reno Mayor Bob Cashell recently came under fire from GOP activists after they co-hosted a fundraiser for Reid and were listed among dozens of prominent Republicans who supported his re-election.
Earlier this week, Martini said he hadn't yet made a firm decision on whether to back Reid.
But Martini now says he's proud to endorse Reid because of his "dedication and devotion to his constituents."
Cashell, who's considering a race for governor, earlier said his name was mistakenly put on the list of Republicans who support Reid.
