WNC baseball wins in 10th

The WNC baseball team won both games Saturday at Eastern Utah, 9-0 and 3-2.

The Wildcats trailed 2-0 in the second game, with two outs and no one on in the top of the seventh. when Lance Ray led off with a double, followed by an RBI-single by Marshall Kennebrew. Jerome Pena hit a single to advance Mike Styles, who pitch ran for Kennebrew, to third. The Wildcats used a double steal with Styles getting under the tag at home to tie the game.

Pena hit a leadoff triple in the 10th and Cory Raymond hit a sac fly for the game winner.

Pena finished the game going 2-for-4 with a double and run scored.

Javy Perez took the win in the first game, pitching five innings, striking out eight and allowing just two hits and a walk.

David Carroll pitched the final two innings, allowing just one hit and striking out two.

Daniel Zylstra was 3-4 with two runs and two RBIs.

The Wildcats will play their first home game Friday against Southern Nevada in two double-headers at John L. Harvey Field.
