Controls on all Northern Nevada roads

Weather for the Carson City area today will have snow in the morning then scattered snow showers in the afternoon with accumulation up to 2 inches. Highs 33-43 with southwest winds 10-20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph in the afternoon.

Tonight, mostly cloudy in the evening with isolated snow showers. Lows 14-24 with west winds 10-15 mph shifting to the southwest after midnight.

Thursday, mostly cloudy with a slight chance of snow showers. Highs 36-46 with southwest winds 10-15 mph.

With overnight snowfall, the Nevada Department of Transportation reports at 5:40 a.m. all roads open with no controls with the following exceptions:

Interstate 80 " Road closed for 76.3 miles between Applegate, Calif. and the state line. Snowtires or chains required for 6.3 miles between .7 miles east of the state line and .1 miles west of Mogul.

Highway 50 " Snowtires or chains required for 35.7 miles between .7 miles east of the state line and 5.8 miles east of Carson City.

Road closed due to avalanche control for 11 miles between 10.6 miles east of Kyburz and 4.1 miles west of SR 89.

Chains required except for 4-wheel-drive vehicles for 40 miles between Placerville and 10.6 miles east of Kyburz, Calif.

Highway 395 " Snowtires or chains required for 4.7 miles between south junction Highway 50 Business and East Lake Boulevard.

Snowtires or chains required for 15.1 miles between 2.3 miles north of Business 395 and North Carson Street.

Snowtires or chains required for 53.2 miles between .4 miles south of junction SR 341 and 431, and Doyle, Calif.

Snowtires or chains required for 72.5 miles between Bridgeport and .4 miles south of Stephanie Way.

SR 341 " Snowtires or chains required for 20.4 miles between Highway 50 and 1.7 miles Highway 395, bottom of Geiger Grade.

SR 342 " Snowtires or chains required for 3.8 miles between SR 341 at Silver City and SR 341 at Virginia City.

Highway 95 " Snowtires or chains required for 30.2 miles between Fallon and Interstate 80.

US 95A " Snowtires or chains required for 10.2 miles between 1 mile north of Wabuska and 9 miles south of Silver Springs.

Utility work continues on Little Lane between Saliman Road south Stewart Street, mainly between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m., with lane restrictions on Little Lane west of South Roop Street.

Utility work is also being done on North Roop Street from East John to Long streets, and on Corbett street, west of North Roop.

Road work continues in Carson City with areas of delays, as with East Fifth Street from Saliman Road to Fairview Drive.

Work on Highway 50 in east Carson City and Mound House has posted lower speed limits with narrow lanes just east of Flint Drive.
