Eight years, eight championships.
The Carson high bowling team walked away with another High Desert Interscholastic Bowling Program championship Wednesday evening with a 31-14 win over Reed at the National Bowling Stadium in Reno.
"They came out strong," team advisor Bill Baker said. "I told the kids tp be patient and stay focuesed and they did."
In fact, they were so focued Carson had the win after just two games, where they had a 27-3 lead. Baker laid off the gas pedal and let the seniors finish up the match.
Joe Bob Johnson and Tami Conn were both named to the all-region team and Conn, who bowled a 187, also picked up the program's academic award along with teammate Jared Wells.
Baker said the scores were affected because the lane setup at the stadium was more of a professional one, rather than the more recreational one most high school players are used to.
To put the scoring in perspective, Conn averages 246, 59 more than her highest score Wednesday.
Johnson had the high score of the day with a 223.
"I'm real proud of my team," Baker said. "I tried to keep them focused and not be too over confident."
