Robert was born to Fannie and James Stone in Long Beach, Calif. and graduated from high school at Mt. Shasta, Calif. in 1942. Upon graduation, Bob joined the Marine Corps, serving in the Pacific including Guadalcanal. After World War II, Bob returned to Mt. Shasta, joined the Mt. Shasta Police Department and married Billie Ott. In 1952 Bob reenlisted in the Marine Corps and moved to Southern Calif. He served in the Korean Conflict.
After suffering a major heart attack in 1959, Bob received a medical discharge from the Marine Corps. He began his career with First American Title Company in Santa Ana Calif. where he remained until retirement in 1987.
Bob is a life member of Scottish Rite in Long Beach, Calif. and a 60-plus year member of the Howard Lodge No. 37 F. & A. M. in Yreka Calif. He was a life member of the National Rifle Association. Bob loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. Known for his dry sense of humor and quick wit, Bob made friends easily, and remained close to all who knew him.
Bob's wife Billie passed away in 1991, shortly after they moved to Carson City. Bob, also known as Dale by family and close friends, is survived by two daughters, Julie Ditgen (husband Paul) of Ferndale Wash. and Charlene (Sherree) Chamberlain (husband Byron) of Newport Beach Calif. At Bob's side was his long time companion, Patricia Sindt of Mission Viejo Calif.
A graveside service will be held at Pacific View Memorial Park in Newport Beach, Calif.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bob's charity, Scottish Rite, Childhood Language Center, 855 Elm Avenue, Long Beach, CA 90813. Local arrangements entrusted to Walton's Chapel of the Valley.
