Fourteen Carson High School students strutted their stuff before a capacity crowd at the Carson Community Center on Saturday night, vying for the honor of being named Mr. Carson High.

The contestants entertained with their dancing, musical talents and general silliness.

Each one hammed it up for their "superhero" introduction, bringing howls of laughter from the audience.

The talent competition included acts varying from stand-up comedy by Nick Weitzel to a medley of heavy metal guitar riffs by Gabriel Ramirez.

The contestants also appeared in formal wear escorted by the CHS varsity cheerleaders, and submitted to on-stage interviews.

In between the competitive stages, the crowd was entertained by dance numbers from Western Nevada Performing Arts and DanceSpirt. MCs Mark Johnson and Joe Thornburg, dressed in their own superhero costumes, cracked jokes throughout.

Blake Moreland played a song he composed on the piano during that talent segment that brought the biggest applause of the evening, and helped him win the title of Mr. Carson High.

Other contestants included Jeremy Comba, Kurt Andersen, Ryjul Stokes, Gordon Lee, Kris Canonigo, Tyler Smith, Darrell Vanegas and Jordon Rogers. Brothers Eric, Cody and Matt McDaniel competed together as a single contestant.

The 18th annual pageant is the main fundraising vehicle for the Carson High School Cheerleaders.
