RENO " Nevada's Brandon Fields enjoyed his best week of the season and was rewarded for those efforts by being named the WAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week.
Fields, a junior, led the Wolf Pack to wins over San Jose State and Boise State last week.
Fields went 7-for-9 from the floor en route to a 20-point effort against San Jose State. He went 5-for-6 at the line and contributed two assists.
Against Boise State, Fields contributed 19 points in a 69-60 win over the Broncos. Fields went 3-for-5 from beyond the 3-point arc and went 8-for-10 at the foul line.
For the week, Fields went 65 percent from the field and went 13-for-16 at the line.
TRACK
Constance McAlman, a Carson High graduate, recorded two regional qualifying marks at last weekend's UNLV Classic.
She threw the hammer 67.37 meters and the discus with a throw of 55.82 meters, a personal best.
Teammate Polly Smith won the 400 hurdles in 62.12.
McAlman and Smith were named the WAC's Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week.
SOFTBALL
Katie Holverson was named the WAC Pitcher of the Week for the second time this season after going 3-0 and winning all-tournament honors at the Wolf Pack Classic.
Holverson struck out 22 in 16 innings of work, winning starts against Pacific and Southern Utah, and then winning in relief against Oregon.
