A Carson City woman died Friday night after being struck by a vehicle as she was attempting to cross a dark section of South Carson Street.
Denise Lohman, 51, of Carson City, was walking east across Carson, also known as U.S. Highway 395, when she was struck near the intersection of Colorado Street at approximately 10:45 p.m., according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.
She was transported from Carson by a Care Flight helicopter to Renown Medical Center in Reno for treatment but was pronounced dead at Renown, said Trooper Chuck Allen, NHP spokesman.
Emergency personnel on the ground were heard directing the Care Flight pilot on how to safely land " specifically how to avoid hitting power lines " in the very dimly lit section of the city.
The accident still is under investigation.
