Curry Engine Company Benefit. The laddies of the Curry Engine Company recently purchased a new alarm bell for their house, but have been unable to pay for it in full. On the evening of April first they will hold a benefit for the purpose of raising sufficient means to relieve the company of their embarrassment by putting on a play called "The Nick of the Woods." Music will be furnished by J. P. Meder.

110 Years Ago

The new bell for the Warren Engine Fire Company arrived. It weighs 900 pounds and if anything can be judged from the slight taps that everybody gave it, it will be all right. The Warren boys will have it in position in a few days. The makers of the bell claim it can be heard five miles.

The second successful year for the "Carson Comets" ski club ended for the season according to Mrs. Frank List, spokesman for the group. Winners were presented ribbons: Beginner, Judy Wilkins, first place; stem turn boys, Don Clayton 1st, David Wamstad 2nd, and Dave Helgren 3rd ; stem turn girls, Carol Wilson 1st, Candy Hawkins and Nancy Wolf 2nd, Freddie King 3rd.

Carson City's Aquatic Center is still on schedule according to John Sieben of American General Development. They were awarded the contract by the Carson City Board of Supervisors the work being paid for with money raised from sales taxes.
