Middle School hosts Technology Night
Carson Middle School hosts Technology Night 5:30-7 p.m., Thursday, March 19 in the gym, 1140 W. King St. See students work on display, CO2 drag races, simple machines, egg crash test cars and hands-on activities. Local businesses and agencies, Bureau of Land Management, Carson City Fly Fishing Club, Resource Concepts, Lumos Associates, and PBS TeacherLine also will have displays. Elks Lodge holds 'Taco Friday'
The Carson City Elks Lodge No. 2177 hosts a "Taco Friday" dinner, 5:30 p.m., Friday, March 20, 515 N. Nevada St. Tacos are $2 each and includes refried beans and all the trimmings. The lounge will be open with Margarita specials and Karaoke. Carson City Elks support Carson City Veteran's Meals on Wheels, Carson Middle School Band, Carson City Sheriffs' Office DARE Program and other Carson City charitable needs. Deadline extended for Candy Dance
The Town of Genoa has extended the deadline for artisans and crafters to apply for a booth at the 89th Annual Candy Dance Arts and Crafts Faire, through Tuesday, April 14. Event organizers hope to expand the quality and quantity of hand-crafted items for faire-goers to appreciate and purchase at this year's event. Applications are available at the Genoa Town Hall. Trails Association to install maps, signs
The Carson Valley Trails Association will install new trail maps and signs on the Fay-Luther trail system Saturday, March 21 and 28. Volunteers are welcome to help with the trail map and sign installation. The meeting time is 9 a.m. at the Fay-Luther trailhead, located on Foothill Road, 4.5 miles south of the Kingsbury Grade/Foothill Road intersection. Volunteers are asked to bring a good pair of gloves, sunglasses, hiking boots, lunch and water. CVTA will supply all necessary equipment. In case of inclement weather, the work days will be rescheduled and posted on the CVTA Web site: www.carsonvalleytrails.org.
