Dayton softball dropped its first league game of the year 9-2 at Lowry, where the Buckaroos were aided by Dayton's five errors.
Lowry jumped out to a 2-0 lead before Dayton tied up the game in the fourth inning. The Buckaroos took it back as they scored five runs in the inning on just three hits and three walks.
Lindsay Cross pitched all seven innings for Dayton, while walking five batters, striking out one and giving up eight hits.
Dayton, though, left nine runners on base.
"We need to be more aggressive at the plate," Dayton coach Dusti Houk said. "We had nine runners left on base and that hurts if we're not getting those runs in."
Natasha Wells went 3-4 and Taylor Hayes, a freshman playing her first varsity game, went 1-1.
Dayton plays Lowry in a doubleheader today at 11 a.m.
