The Western Nevada baseball team (11-3 SWAC, 17-9)picked up two more wins Friday as it defeated Salt Lake Community College 4-0 and 6-2.
Jordan Lewis recorded his first collegiate shutout as he struck out 11 batters on just two hits in seven innings.
"He didn't feel great in the bullpen, but got ahead with his fastball and a curve ball they couldn't layoff," WNC coach D.J. Whittemore said.
Lance Ray, Travis Feiner and Mike Long all had an RBI and Eric Maupin went 2-for-3 in the game.
In the second game, Kyle Starratt took the start, allowing one hit, two runs and striking out four. Kramer Champlin pitched 4.1 innings and didn't allow a run to extend a runless streak that dates back nearly a month.
In 16 innings, the Wildcats' pitching staff walked just one batter and the defense played errorless ball.
Not all news was good for the Wildcats though. Jerome Pena left the game after two at bats after fouled a ball off his ankle. Whittemore said Pena is day to day.
