LAKE TAHOE " The Weather Channel will broadcast live from Edgewood Tahoe, Monday from 1 to 9 p.m. PST.

The Weather Channel visited South Lake Tahoe in January to tape several stories on the destination and will air those segments as part of its live programming. Features include the lake's spectacular color as a national attraction; the Heavenly Flyer zipline; boat cruises; family-friendly activities; high altitude exercise and Lake Tahoe factoids.

The entire program will air repeatedly, providing the destination hundreds of thousands of dollars in media exposure.

"Lake Tahoe is one of the most beautiful places in the United States," said Kerrie Cassani-Levick, field producer, The Weather Channel. "I grew up in Sacramento and I'm very familiar with the area. It's a thrill to be able to share this unbelievable scenery with the rest of the country."

In addition, the segment on family-friendly activities will run again as a separate story called, "Why I Love Spring Week." Air dates have yet to be determined.

"This is the type of coverage you can't afford to buy," said Carol Chaplin, executive director of the Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority. "Especially in light of the tight economy and the recent funding cuts. LTVA is continually looking to creatively leverage limited tourism dollars and this programming is another example to attract visitors."
