at Applebee's
Applebee's Restaurants host their annual fundraiser for Special Olympics Nevada, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. and 5 p.m.-9 p.m., Thursday, March 26. Carson City Sheriff's Office will be turning in their handcuffs for serving trays while they volunteer their time to collect as many tips as possible for the athletes. Commodity foods to be distributed Friday
RSVP Carson City volunteers will distribute USDA Commodity Foods, 9-11 a.m., Friday, March 27 at the Carson City Community Center, 851 E. William St. Any needy family in Carson City can be eligible. The household must simply sign the "issuance sheet" at the Community Center certifying that their household's annual income does not exceed 150 percent of the federal poverty guidelines. No proof of income is required, only a picture ID/drivers license. Food may be picked up for the homebound or those unable to attend by bringing a signed note from them and their picture ID. Color guard and drumline to compete
Carson High School sponsors the Silver State Silks, Sabers, and Snares Competition, 1:30-4:30 p.m., Saturday, March 28, Carson High School Gym, 1111 Saliman Road. Costumed Color Guards will be spinning and throwing flags, sabers, and rifles choreographed to music, and drum lines will be performing. Both are from Nevada and Northern California. Cost is $10 for adults, $5 for seniors, and children 3 and under are free. Snack bar will be available. For information, call 720-9058.
