Ex-EPA official Marchetta is new director of TRPA

STATELINE (AP) " A former project manager for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency who has served as general counsel for the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency has been named the TRPA's permanent executive director.

The bi-state federal agency's board named Joanne Marchetta to be its interim director after John Singlaub announced his resignation from the post in January. On Wednesday, the 15-member board voted unanimously to make her position permanent.

Marchetta joined the TRPA as general counsel in June 2005. In addition to her job at EPA, she served as project manager for the Presidio Trust in San Francisco.

She earned a degree in forestry from the University of Michigan School of Natural Resources and a law degree from the Columbus School of Law in Washington D.C.
