New auto repair business

Complete Auto Care is opening for business April 4, and will donate 10 percent of their proceeds for their first weekend to the Salvation Army. The business is located at 1600 North Carson St., inside the Shell station.

The Carson City Chamber of Commerce announced new members who have signed up in February and March:

Greater Nevada announces new board of directors

Greater Nevada Credit Union announced its new board of directors during its 60th annual meeting, held March 10, at the Eagle Station Branch in Carson City.

The meeting was open to all members of Greater Nevada.

The main order of business was the announcement of the election results for two seats on the board of directors. The successful candidates were Vernon Dalton and Teresa Larson.

Subsequent to the annual meeting, the board held a special meeting to elect officers.

The new board officers for the coming year are Rob Joiner, chairman; Paul Richey, vice-chair; Alex Talmant, treasurer; and Vernon Dalton, secretary. Bill Arensdorf, Shirley Faiella, and Teresa Larson are the directors who make up the remainder of the seven-member board.

"It's an honor to work with the volunteers who work on our board," said Wally Murray, president and CEO of Greater Nevada Credit Union. "By establishing our mission, vision, and strategic direction they serve a vital role within our credit union."


Wertz appointed GNCU's new dealer sales manager

Greater Nevada Credit Union has promoted Marcus Wertz to its new dealer sales manager position. In this capacity, Wertz is responsible for building and developing new competitive automobile lending programs.

Wertz was previously a loan sales manager in the credit union's Consumer Lending Department and has worked at Greater Nevada for more than six years in a variety of lending positions.

"Marcus has been instrumental in helping us become number one in the market for vehicle lending," President Wally Murray said. "This new position is just one more step that we are taking to help our members prevail in today's financial market."

"I look forward to establishing solid, long term, relationships with our dealer partners,"Wertz said.

Wertz also will work on maintaining a respectable market share and reducing risk in the credit union's portfolio.


WNC project completed

Clark & Sullivan Constructors Inc. of Sparks said last week it has completed a $1.7 million project at the Western Nevada College campus in Carson City.

The seven-month project to meet Americans with Disabilities Act standards included installation of new ramps and chair lifts to improve access to the 22,000-square-foot building.

The project was designed by Hershenow + Klippenstein Architects of Reno.


Coffee with the sheriff

The Carson City Chamber of Commerce monthly breakfast club meeting will take place at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 7 at the Carson City Sheriff's Office, 911 Musser St. Call 882-1565.


Chamber mixer planned at Unique Sounds

The Carson City Chamber of Commerce monthly mixer will take place April 15 at Unique Sounds, 3050 Highway 50 East at 5:30 p.m. The event is being co-hosted by Pizza Factory.


Sierra Nevada Eye Center building new facility

Shaheen Beauchamp Builders LLC, a commercial general contracting firm based in Carson City, will be building a new 9,200 square foot medical office building for Sierra Nevada Eye Center.

Sierra Nevada Eye Center will occupy approximately 4,500 square feet of the building, with the balance of the space available for lease.

Shaheen Beauchamp specializes in medical projects with more than 100,000 square feet of medical buildings constructed at or near the Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center campus. The project is located on GS Richards Blvd and is expected to open in October of 2009.
