RENO " Douglas High's girlssoftball team continued to roll with a dounleheader sweep of Galena on Saturday.
Douglas won 11-2 and 3-2 behind the sttrong right arm of Stephanie Harper, who allowed just seven hits in 14 innings of work.
In the opener, Katrina Morganb hit two homers and drove in three runs, while Harper went 2-for-5 and drove in three runs, including a homer. Morgan Blomstrom went 3-for-4 and Maddie Gilbert went 2-for-5.
In the second game, Mia Townsell was safe on an error in the seventh and came around o score on a passed ball to snap a 2-al tie and give the Tigers a win.
Emily Weaver doubled for Douglas in the second game.
CHS GIRLS SWEEP
RENO " Carson High's JV softball team rolledto a doubleheader sweep over Bishop Manogue, 11-1 and 15-2, Saturday.
Christa McGahuey pitched a strong game with eight strikeouts.
She helped herself at the plate with a two-run homer and three RBIs total.
Nicole Strickland, Dee Morrow, Hanna Winder and Lindsay Burroughs all drove in two runs.
In the second game, Chistina Gallegos tossed a 2-hitter.
Morrow had two hits and four RBI, while Emily Collins had two hits and three RBI.
DAYTON BOYS SWEPT
RENO " The Dayton baseball team dropped two games, 5-4 and 7-3, to Truckee on Saturday at Moana Stadium in Reno,
Connor Oliver started on the mound in the first one, going seven innings and striking out 10. Only three of the five runs were earned.
Timmy Doyle pitched the eighth inning, giving up one earned run, for the loss.
Shawn Starks was 1-for-4 with two RBIs and Jake Koch went 1-for-4 with a double.
In the second game, Jason Maxim threw the complete game, giving up four earned runs and striking out two.
Doyle was 1-for-2 with an RBI and a run scored, while Sam Hadley was 1-for-2 with a run scored.
The Dust Devils play their next game Tuesday at Fallon in a nonconference game.
CHS JV BOYS LOSE 2
Carson High's JV baseball teams dropped a doubleheader to Bishop Manogue on Saturday, losing 3-2 and 7-6.
Brock Pradere, Shea Bondi, Tim Baylor, Nick Domitrovich, Dan Gall and Danny Okimura all had one hit in the opener .
In the second game, Bryce Altus and Domitrovich each had three hits.
Drew Moreland and Gall were the losing pitchers for CHS.
CHANG SWIMS WELL
Paul Chang came up with the best finish of the day Saturday at the Aqua 5 meet, posting a second place finishe in the boys 100-yard breastroke.
Chang finished with a time of 1:05.22, while Reno's Michael Weiss came in at 1:04.50.
Other top finishers for the Senators include: Kevin Dyer third in 100-yard backstroke (1:00.13), Jamie Showalter sixth in 100-yard freestyle (58.85) and Tatum Bochnke third in 100-yard butterfly (1:04.29).
