See 'Strings in the Schools' concert

Strings in the Schools will present a free concert, 7 p.m., Thursday, April 2 at the Carson Plaza Conference Center, 211 E. Ninth St. Students from Carson City public, private, and home-school will perform classics to folk and fiddle tunes. The Spring Concert, directed by Sue Kitts, features beginning violins in grades two to five, a pre-orchestra violin ensemble, and the youth orchestra, for more advanced students of all ages and adult mentors. Legislative health fair Wednesday

The Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America hosts the annual Legislative Health Fair, 8 a.m.-3 p.m., Wednesday, April 1, in Assembly Room 3100 of the Legislative Building. Scholastic Book Fair at Bethlehem Lutheran on Thursday

Bethlehem Lutheran School hosts a Scholastic Book Fair 1 p.m., Thursday, April 2 and before and after school through Wednesday, April 8. The book fair will also be open during lunch time, Friday, April 3 and Monday, April 6. All proceeds will go toward the purchase of books for classroom libraries. Weight Loss Challenge program holds first meeting

"The Weight Loss Challenge" program will hold its first meeting 6-7 p.m., Thursday, April 9, 1790 Myles Way. The Weight Loss Challenge is a 12-week program running through Thursday, July 2. Befriend the Dayton Valley Library

The Friends of the Dayton Valley Library begin their membership drive Tuesday, April 7 for July 2009-June 2010 year. The Friends plan an increase of membership to show that the community supports the need for library services. Memberships start at $10, and gifts are always appreciated.
