Celebrity docs serve dinner for Cancer Center benefit

Join the physicians of Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center, 5 p.m, Saturday, May 9 at Glen Eagles Restaurant, 3700 N. Carson St. as they greet guests, serve dinner, cook and tend bar to raise funds to benefit the Carson Tahoe Cancer Center. Topaz Sagehens rummage sale

The Topaz Sagehens will host their annual rummage sale, 8 a.m.-2 p.m., Saturday, May 9 and 9 a.m.-1 p.m., Sunday, May 10 at Topaz Ranch Estates Community Park Building, on Carter Way. Wild horse adoption at correctional center

Adopt a wild horse at Northern Nevada Correctional Center, 9 a.m., Saturday, May 30. Preview 16 wild horses from 9-10 a.m. Competitive oral bidding at 10 a.m.

Directions to the Correctional Center: from U.S. 395 (Carson Street), take Snyder Avenue (NV State Route 518) east for 1.5 miles. Turn south (right) at the Center sign and watch for parking signs at the far south end of the facility. For security reasons no blue clothing, blue jeans, tank tops or shorts may be worn. Silk paintings at Backseat Gallery

The vibrant silk paintings of Louise Noel Howes are on display through May at the Backseat Gallery inside Comma Coffee and cosponsored by zArtist.com. An artist's reception will be held 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at the gallery. The exhibition and reception are free. Pottery sale benefits WNC ceramics class

Artists Jill Brugler and Grant Kremers will have a small pottery sale on Wednesday at the College Gallery from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Proceeds will go into a fund for equipment needed in the ceramics class.

Enjoy Pink Tea at Governor's Mansion

The Nevada Women's History Project will celebrate Pink Tea and 100th Birthday Party of the Governor's Mansion, 2-4 p.m. Saturday, May 9 at the Governor's Mansion, 606 Mountain St. The event is limited to the first 75 persons. Mumbo Gumbo to benefit Arts Council

Carson Valley Arts Council presents Mumbo Gumbo in the last of the 2008-2009 concert series Friday, May 8 at the C.V.I.C. Hall, 1604 Esmeralda, Minden.
