Eighty-nine runners and walkers came to Longview Park on Saturday morning for a 5K run that raised money for CASA of Carson City.

"I think people might have been worried about the wet weather the night before, but the runners were thrilled with he fact that it was cool, and we did it before the wind came up," said Chris Bayer, executive director of CASA of Carson City. "So it actually came off wonderfully."

Bayer said they had participants of all ages, from small children to senior. Even Ronald McDonald made an appearance.

"It was an event with healthy exercise, and it also supports CASA Carson City, and helps us get our name out and raise funds so we can afford to do advocacy for children," Bayer said.

CASA, which stands for Court Appointed Special Advocates, helps abused and neglected children who are going through the legal system.
