TRUCKEE " A woman's death in Truckee has turned into a homicide investigation.

Truckee police have asked the FBI and California Department of Justice to assist in the investigation into the death of 77-year-old Beverly Beatrice Williams.

Police say a family member called Thursday for medical assistance for a possible heart attack at Williams' home in the Tahoe-Donner subdivision.

Truckee Police and Truckee Fire units responded and found Williams, 77, dead, according to a press release.

"We're calling it a homicide due to circumstances present at the scene," said Lt. Harwood Mitchell, who said he couldn't elaborate on those circumstances.

Truckee Police requested the assistance of a forensics team from the California Department of Justice and the FBI, Mitchell said.

Police ask residents to be aware of unusual people or activities in their neighborhoods, and report suspicious activity to the Truckee Police Department.

Any information should be reported to Truckee Police at (530) 550-2324.
