LAS VEGAS " Health officials in Nevada say they've confirmed the first two cases of swine flu in the Las Vegas area.
Southern Nevada Health District chief Lawrence Sands says the patients are an 11-year boy who has recovered and a 39-year-old woman who remains hospitalized.
Sands said Tuesday that officials are investigating but neither patient traveled within seven days of becoming ill.
State health officials have said the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta was testing nine possible swine flu samples from Nevada.
The state's only other confirmed case was reported April 29. The Washoe County Health District says the 2-year-old Reno girl wasn't hospitalized and is recovering.
The CDC reports 403 cases of the virus nationwide, including a toddler from Mexico who died in Texas.
