Carson JV girls win title

GARDNERVILLE " Carson High's junior varsity softball team knocked off Douglas 4-0 in the second game of Thursday's doubleheader at Lampe Park to win the Sierra League championship.

Douglas won the opener 8-1. Carson finished 19-1 in league play and 28-5 overall. Douglas' only two league losses were to Carson.

In the deciding game, Carson's Christina Gallegos fanned nine and allowed just one hit and Christa McGahuey homered, doubled and drove in four runs to lead the offense.

Emily Collins and Taylor-Rae Canfield each finished with three hits in the second game, and Kristalei Wolfe slammed a double.

In the opener, Gallegos worked five innings and suffered the loss.

Canfield had two of Carson's four hits, while Ali Vondrak and Collins collected a hit apiece. Vondrak drove in Carson's only run,

CHS JV BASEBALL WINS

MINDEN " Carson scored six seventh-inning runs to grab a 9-6 win over Douglas at Douglas High School.

Nick Domitrovich worked six innings to pick up the win. He fanned two and allowed five runs. her helped himself at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI.

Clay Holton and Drew Moreland added two hits apiece and Shea Bondi contributed one hit.

Carson is 16-14 overall and 8-8 in league.
