Attempted stage robbery. The southern stage connecting with the one which left here and driven by Bob Whittaker was attacked by robbers on the Aurora grade. The robbers jumped from an embankment and commanded the driver to stop. Their loud voices startled the horses and they ran up the hill at a frantic speed, the driver laid on the whip with a will, and they were safely landed in Aurora.

All sorts: Mark Twain's lawyers have bought for their client the old farm house in which he was born at Florida, Missouri. It is said that the new owner will renovate the place and restore it to the condition it was in during his boyhood.

Governor Grant Sawyer warned that the administration is preparing for new taxes in case expected revenues do not provide funds needed. Sawyer said "under our present spending rate, new sources of revenue will be needed by 1963." Recommended recurring items for the 1959-60 fiscal budget were 17 percent more than the previous year.

The first publicly-owned bordello stock offering sales stalled at the three-quarter mark. The sale of common stock in Mustang Ranch has been stopped and the money received for shares will be returned to investors.

National Historic Preservation Week in Virginia City centerpieces the historic Fourth Ward School and will also feature the artifacts from a dig at Piper's Opera House.
