UPDATE: 1:07 p.m.
A spokeswoman for the Washoe County Sheriff's Office sent out an e-mail saying the release of information in the Highway 395 shootings on Mother's Day has been postponed until 4 p.m.
The name of a man arrested Sunday after allegedly shooting and killing a Carson City teenager and injuring a passerby is expected to be released by the Washoe County Sheriff's office today.
"The Washoe County Sheriff's Office will be releasing more information at 1:30pm today in a press release regarding the shooting that occurred on Hwy 395, Sunday, May 10th," spokeswoman Deputy Brooke Keast said in an e-mail
The 24-year-old Carson City man was arrested about 2 p.m. Sunday behind fenced property on Bellevue Road in Washoe Valley.
At about 12:30 p.m. on Mother's Day police said the unnamed suspect shot 17-year-old Rene Angulo, a Carson High School junior, in the head and left his body on the road.
Passerby, Wayne Nash, 51, assistant JV coach for girl's basketball at Carson High, saw Angulo's car swerve off the road. Believing the driver was having car trouble, Nash stopped to help and was shot in the leg as the suspect drove past in Angulo's car.
Nash is listed in serious condition in a Reno hospital.
Investigators are still trying to determine the connection between Angulo and the suspect, but have thus far not released any theories.
Angulo's family said they did not recognize the name or picture of the suspect shown to them by investigators and Rene is not involved in gangs.
"He didn't hang around any of those kinds of people," his older brother Mario told the Appeal on Monday.
The family is speculating that perhaps the shooting stemmed from a car jacking.
