Carrier pigeons shipped to Carson from fanciers and dealers in San Francisco have been released in accordance with instructions for practice flights and races to the places the birds have been raised. Record are kept of the flying time it takes for the pigeons to return home. Carson City is a favorite starting point for young birds on their first flight over the Sierra.
