Jeff Woodward, owner of Carson Jeep Nissan, has vowed to stay in business despite having the Jeep line pulled from his dealership because of Chrysler's restructuring plan announced Thursday.
"Carson Jeep has always exceeded Chrysler's sales and customer satisfaction goals and therefore we were greatly surprised to find ourselves on this list," Woodward said in an e-mail statement. "That said, we will continue to be here in Carson City, either with or without Jeep, selling and servicing new Nissan products and used vehicles just as we have for the past 10 years."
Chrysler's move to pull dealership agreements with 789 dealers across the nation came one day before General Motors announced that it would cut 1,100 of its dealerships.
Chrysler brands include Jeep and Dodge. Carson Dodge was not on the list of dealers to be cut.
"As Chrysler emerges from their restructuring our customers are regaining the confidence to look at new vehicles again," said Steve Christian, general manager of Carson Dodge.
Asked if Carson Dodge might add Jeep to its line of vehicles, Christian said that Chrysler hasn't offered it.
"We feel very fortunate to have retained our Dodge Chrysler franchise and look forward to continued and uninterrupted service for all of our customers," Christian said.
