Kingsbury Middle School hit by vandals

Vandals rammed into two gates and shot nearly a dozen .22-caliber rounds at Kingsbury Middle School this week, according to a Douglas County Sheriff's report.

At about 11:20 a.m. on Tuesday, a maintenance worker at the closed school noticed two gates had been heavily damaged, including one that was broken through, according to the report.

Someone had apparently used a vehicle " possibly a 1996-1998 Nissan Path-

finder or a 1998-2000 Nissan Frontier " to smash into the gates.

After failing to break through one of the gates, the occupants of the vehicle apparently stopped and fired several rounds at the school, striking it in several places, according to the report.

The lock on the gate to the school's soccer field was also broken, and the vandals spun doughnuts on the playfield before driving away from the school via a walking path.

Everything was fine when maintenance workers left the school at about 10:30 a.m. on Monday, according to the report. Damage to the school from the incident was estimated at almost $2,000, according to the report.
