Jack H. Weaver died at his home in Carson City April 7, 2009, following a lengthy illness. Jack was born Nov. 1, 1928 to John and Lucille Weaver in Southgate, Calif.
Jack is survived by his loving wife of 56-years Joy (Moniot) Weaver; sons Alan (Vicki) Weaver of Sedalia, Mo., Mark (Kai) Weaver of Minden, Gary (Peggy) Weaver of Keauhou, Hawaii and grandchildren Derek, Lila, Clayton, Whitney, and Colton Weaver.
Jack served in the U.S Army 1950-1952 in the 4th Field Artillery Mule Pack Battalion, stationed in Colorado Springs, Colo. While a deputy with the Los Angeles County Sheriffs Office, Jack developed the Weaver Stance method of combat pistol shooting. The Weaver Stance is currently utilized by the FBI and other law enforcement agencies throughout the U.S. and worldwide.
Following his retirement in 1979, Jack and Joy moved to Carson City, where he enjoyed gardening and collecting antique bottles.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m., Tuesday July 7, 2009 at First Presbyterian Church, Carson City. Donations may be made to The First Presbyterian Church Building Fund.
