Former Supreme Court Justice Bob Rose has been honored as the first recipient of the high court's Legacy of Justice award.
Rose received the award at a May 13 luncheon from Chief Justice Jim Hardesty as part of this year's Law Day events.
The plaque cites Rose's "contributions during his public service career that have resulted in significant and innovative improvements in the justice system to the benefit of the citizens of Nevada."
Rose retired last year after three, six year terms on the Supreme Court. Before that, he served two district court terms in Clark County.
He also served a term as Nevada's lieutenant governor and, before that, was Washoe County District Attorney.
Although retired, Rose still serves as an appointed senior judge on cases.
